Hello.
I would like to run a User story estimation workshop with my team to improve on how we rate our stories and to discuss what to take into account when rating these stories.
Any suggestions and ideas how I can go about facilitating this session?
I have done some Google research but would like to hear from the community please….
Thanks
You mean an estimation workshop?
Cool – nice idea!
In my undergraduate physics estimation class we got asked questions like:
– are there more atoms in a pebble, or pebbles on a beach?
– how many mirrors would it take to set fire to a Roman war galley?
This gets to the heart of estimation IMHO; you can explore
– the difference between accuracy and precision in estimation
– how estimation allows us to surfaces risks, unknowns, and assumptions
– how cognitive biases impact on estimates
These are all key areas; you can also look at statistical estimation approaches (different types of average, standard deviations, forecasts) and use your actual cycle and lag time data to explore these.
have fun!
