Hello everybody…
I seem to be running out of ideas and would like your advice.
When we do retros, we seem to get stuck with action points.
I have tried different templates and techniques for retros to be more action oriented but team does not seem is very passive towards improvements.
Could you share your ideas what have you tried and what have worked for you to engage team more more into improving?
Truth to be told – my team likes more to tackle problems ad hoc.
But for them to keep their focus, I feel that they should take time to address problems and find root cause and retro is one of the formats which could help.
thank you
“The presenting issue is seldom the underlying problem”
That’s a quote from the coaching course I did; not agile coaching, just an ICF-accredited professional coaching course.
One approach is to use the retrospective to surface issues. but treat those as symptoms. Then forma problem statement and look deeper in a second session.
– try using an Ishikawa fishbone exercise
– try using systems thinking archetypes
That is to say if the team is performing well, what are the wider systemic issues that act as constraints? How can you, as a team, influence change in those areas?
